Lanin National Park is in the south western part of Neuquen Province,in Los Lagos location. It is a 3.790.000 square kilometers area. This park is named after an extinct volcano that is 3776 meters high, the highest peak in the area standing out above in a breath-taking scenary . The gravel roads going through the park are passable during the summer season, being cautious as montainous roads demand. Along them, you can get to different locations of interest, such as Refugio Lago Tromen , placed on the banks of the lake with the same name. Tromen is a "mapuche" language word. Tromen Lake is surrounded by Los Andes mountain range with its lush vegetation with several kinds of pine trees among which we can mention the lenga coihue, the cypress and others. Birds such as woodpeckers, gallaretas, avutardas and so on, take part of this unforgettable landscape. The lake is located 1050 meters above the sea level, which is a deep wonderful transparent water mirror with a great variety of trouts , like the brown trout, the rainbow trout , the fontinalis and silver trouts. In this way, sport-fishing turns out the best choice in its different ways: spinning and fly casting. One of the best trout rivers is born from this lake; it is called Malleo, formidable for fly casting fishing lovers.
